Kings Canyon, at your own pace
Roughly halfway between Alice Springs and Uluru, this is a private, guided journey into Kings Canyon in Watarrka National Park. The great sandstone walls rise more than 270 metres, and from the rim you look down over the Garden of Eden, a sheltered pocket where permanent rock pools keep the desert green. Part of the gorge is a sacred Aboriginal site, and your local Anangu guide shares the story of Country in their own words.
Watarrka is one of the most botanically rich corners of Central Australia, tucked at the western end of the George Gill Range close to Kathleen Springs. We shape the whole visit around you: what you most want to see, how far you want to walk, and whether you'd rather do it in one big day or take an unhurried two-day trip.
Every Kings Canyon trip is quoted to suit you. Your travel consultant shapes an itinerary around your interests and group, and usually has a price back to you within the hour.

How the day runs
Every day is tailored, so treat this as the shape, not the script.
- The First Lookout
The morning starts with a climb up the escarpment, where the whole Red Centre opens out across the range below you.
- The Rim Walk
One of the country's finest walks threads between the sandstone domes, past an astonishing variety of hardy desert plants.
- Into the Canyon
Stand at the edge and take in canyon walls that drop away more than 270 metres beneath your feet.
- The Garden of Eden
A hidden waterhole ringed by lush growth and cool shade. It is a sacred place, so we look but do not swim.
- Stay the Night
It's a long way out here, so an overnight stay lets you slow right down and take the country in without rushing.
