Ayers Rock Private Tour

Private · half or full day ⚑ Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park Reviews coming soon

Uluru, at your own pace

This is a private guided day at Uluru, the vast rock that anchors the red heart of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. It stands 348 metres above the surrounding desert and is one of the few landmarks in the country carried by two names, Uluru and Ayers Rock. Over four to five unhurried hours you follow the base tracks, look in on hidden waterholes and cool caves, take in the ancient rock art, and settle in to watch the colour move across the rock as the sun rises or sets.

Uluru is a sacred place, and the Anangu are its Traditional Owners. Out of respect, the rock is not climbed, so the day is spent close to its face, walking the tracks and pausing at the cultural sites rather than looking down from above. Red Spaces works alongside experienced local Anangu guides who share the stories and knowledge that are theirs to tell, while the day itself is shaped entirely around your group, your interests and the pace you want to keep.

From AUD $990 · private, custom quoted

How the day runs

Every day is tailored, so treat this as the shape, not the script.

  • Into the park

Your pick-up time is set around the light you want to see, either the first glow of sunrise or the wash of sunset. From the Ayers Rock resort it is roughly a thirty minute drive across open desert country to the rock itself.

  • Walking tour of the rock

You trace the Mala walk and the Kuniya walk along the base, close enough to touch the weathered face in places, while your guide talks you through the rock, the wildlife and the wider national park.

  • Mutitjulu waterhole

A short, easy walk brings you to Mutitjulu, a semi-permanent pool sheltered against the rock. It is one of the calmer corners of the base and a fine place to slow down for a while.

  • Rock art and cultural sites

At the caves you take in the ancient rock art, and your local Anangu guide shares the cultural stories and knowledge connected to this place, in their own words.

  • Sunrise or sunset over Uluru

From the dunes viewing area you watch Uluru shift through its reds and golds as the light turns, with the domes of Kata Tjuta on the horizon, before the drive back to your accommodation.
