Kata Tjuta Private Tour

Private · half or full day ⚑ Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park Reviews coming soon

Kata Tjuta, at your own pace

Kata Tjuta is a group of ancient sandstone domes in the middle of the Central Australian desert, about 40 kilometres from Uluru. The name means many heads, and there are 36 steep-sided domes in all. With Uluru, they are the two great landmarks of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. This is a sacred Aboriginal site.

This is a private guided tour, and the day is built around what you want to see. Come at sunrise or at sunset, when the light moves across the domes, and walk into Walpa Gorge at an easy pace. Everything is shaped to your interests and how you like to travel.

How the day runs

Every day is tailored, so treat this as the shape, not the script.

  • Into the park

You leave your resort and travel through the desert into Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, about 40 kilometres to the domes.

  • Sunrise or sunset

You settle in at a viewing spot and watch the light change across Kata Tjuta, at the start or the close of the day.

  • Walpa Gorge

Named for the wind that whistles between them, the massive domes rise on either side. This is a sacred ceremonial site.

  • Walk the gorge

You walk about 2 kilometres among the rock walls while your guide talks you through the geology of the place.

  • Back at your pace

A half day is around four hours, with time to rest and take it in before the return to your resort.
